I'm more pissed off than ever at these technophobes and Unabomber groupies who want space exploration abolished!! They are so certain that space exploration can never benefit the people of Earth, yet most of them don't even know the difference between a retrorocket and a retrovirus! You know, if you don't like space exploration, you don't have to do it! That doesn't mean you should stop those who do want to do it from doing it! But that's the nature of today's modern dystopia! If you don't like something, stop people from doing it -- even if that something does no harm to you. As things stand now, space exploration very likely will end in the forseeable future all because some folks refuse to allow others from doing it. Even privatized space exploration may not be allowed to expand since space exploration is so unpopular. Can somebody figure out a way out of this anti-space exploration bullshit?!?!?

Given the large number of countries in the world, and the great freedom in the richest ones, I seriously doubt that the Luddites are going to impair space exploration even as much as they did in Asimov's story "Trends." Right now, there are _billionaires_ investing in private space programs, and America has an official plan to return to the Moon. Things are getting _better_, not worse.

You might be right that things are getting better. However, I would clarrifiy that things are getting worse in the U.S. as far as space exploration goes. If so, it seems to me that the American people are going to have to learn the hard way when they see other nations benefiting from their space programs as the U.S. space program becomes dismantled.
